Lakes Academy Wins the Dallas Cup!!!

10/16/2006

With a finish that read like a story book ending, LTA wins the Dallas Cup! The Dallas Cup is a doubles combo tournament that involves 16 of the largest club in the metroplex. In early round-robin play Lakes beat T-Bar-M, Royal Oaks and the Jewish Community Center. In the semifinals, Lakes beat last years reigning Cup champions, High Point Tennis Center. In an All Frisco final, Lakes went down 4-1 matches in a race to 5 against Stonebriar Country Club. Lakes came from behind to win 5 to 4 as the last matches finished.

The Dallas Tennis Association will engrave Lakes Tennis Academy 2006 Champions on the Cup and deliver it to be displayed at our facility over the next year.

Blake, Bryans and Fish Perform Exhibition in Frisco

9/18/2006

No. 1 ranked American singles player James Blake, ATP World No. 1 doubles team Bob and Mike Bryan and ATP Tour Star Mardy Fish will headline the Dallas FedEX Shootout Series presented by Saab and Baylor Medical Center at Frisco on Saturday, December 16th at 7:00pm at the Dr. Pepper Star Center in Frisco, Texas.

People magazine named James Blake as one of the sexiest men alive. The former Harvard "All American" just might seem to have it all with 10 career titles. James Blake is on top of his game, and is excited about the opportunity to come to the Dallas Ft. Worth Metroplex to play tennis. "This is a great opportunity to bring world class men's tennis back to Dallas. I'm also looking forward to playing Mardy Fish. It will be a great match. Mardy and I reached the doubles finals in Memphis and semi finals in Houston earlier this year. We know each others game. So the match will be tough."

Rising U.S. tennis star Mardy Fish won a silver medal in the 2004 Athens Olympic games and has played in five Davis Cup ties for the U.S. "James Blake and I won the deciding doubles point against Slovakia in Oklahoma City," says Mardy Fish. "I look forward to returning to Dallas and playing James. It will be a battle, he's such a great competitor."

In addition to the Blake and Fish men's singles match, the world #1 doubles team, Bob and Mike Bryan will team up to challenge James Blake and Thomas Blake in the "Battle of the Brothers". Perhaps this will be the most interesting match of the evening. Bob holds 29 and Mike holds 31 career titles in doubles. So far in 2006 the Bryans have won two slams, the Australian Open and Wimbledon and were finalist at the French Open.

"This will be a great night of world class tennis and family entertainment," says Tim Stallard, event producer and president of PROLINK Sports and Entertainment. "The last time the FedEX Shootout Series came to Dallas featuring Andy Roddick and Taylor Dent, they played to a sold out crowd. James Blake, the Byran Brothers and Mardy Fish offer a great addition to the Fed EX Shootout Series, providing tennis fans with the best in men's tennis."

Tickets go on sale at 9:00am on Friday, September 15th. Phone 214-GO-STARS (214) 467-8277. Tickets can also be purchased on line through tickets.com. Ticket prices are $26.50, $45.50 and $75.50.
