FedEx Tennis Shootout 9/22/07
8/1/07
The greatest tennis player of all time “Pistol Pete” Sampras and ATP Tour star Robby Ginepri will headline the FedEx Tennis Shootout Series presented by Lexus at Frisco on Saturday, September 22nd at 7 PM in the Deja Blue Arena at the Dr Pepper Star Center, 2601 Avenue of the Stars in Frisco. Sampras retired from the ATP Tour following his dramatic USOPEN victory over longtime rival Andre Agassi in 2002. His resume boasts 14 grand slam titles, including seven Wimbledon titles. He was ranked World No. 1 for six consecutive years from 1993-1998.
Sampras is still on top of his game and is excited about the opportunity to return to Dallas. Sampras says, “I look forward to returning to Texas to play in the 3rd annual FedEx Tennis Shootout. Last time I played in Dallas, against Andy, we had a sold out event with great tennis fans. Dallas is one of America’s great tennis cities. I know Robby looks forward to teeing it up in September.” Ginepri defeated Sampras in April of 2006 in Houston, TX as part of the River Oaks International Championship. Sampras returned the favor by defeating Ginepri at the FedEx Shootout in Atlanta last December. Robby Ginepri staked his claim as one of the top players in the world last year when he defeated Andy Roddick and Taylor Dent to win the USOPEN Series in Indianapolis. In 2005, Ginepri reached the semifinals of the USOPEN. He currently holds two career singles titles.
In addition to the Sampras and Ginepri men’s singles match, the FedEx All-American Tennis Shootout Series also features local players in an innovative tie break shootout format. The format highlights the skills of local club pros, wheelchair athletes and local college players. A portion of ticket sales will benefit the Maureen Connolly Brinker Tennis Foundation (MCB), the National Junior Tennis League (NJTL) and the Arthur Ashe Legacy Program. The sponsors of the Shootout Series include FedEx, Lexus, Golfsmith, Wilson Sporting Goods and the Tennis Channel.
“This will be an amazing night of world class tennis and family entertainment,” says Tim Stallard, president of ProLink Sports & Entertainment. “I know that Pete and Robby are excited to come to Dallas and provide tennis fans with the best in men’s tennis.” Tickets are available on-line starting July 6th through www.tickets.com or by calling 214- GO-STARS (214) 467-8277. Ticket prices are $28.50, $47.50 and $77.50.
Ladies Doubles Play Day Recap
4/20/07
On Friday, April 20th we had 32 ladies join us for a Ladies Doubles Play Day. Here is a quick recap of some of the details….
Our Tennis Pro’s met each participant in the parking lot upon arrival to offer valet parking services. This went well until one of the ladies pulled in her Ferrari and a fight broke out as to who got to park that vehicle! Our Pro’s also doubled as “servers” by taking orders and delivering drinks including Mimosas and Bloody Mary’s during our round robin play. All ladies participating received an Adidas tennis backpack as well as a club embroidered towel. Pictured below is the team that one each of our four flights. Each of these ladies also received a gift certificate to Terrace Boutique

Congratulate Brooke Hughes, Joey Good and Clark Shannon for Outstanding Tournament Play
4/1/07
Lakes Tennis Academy is proud to congratulate Brooke Hughes, Joey Good and Clark Shannon for outstanding results in their tournament play over the last couple months.
Brooke Hughes won Girls 12 & Under titles in both singles and doubles in her Super Championship Major Zone last month. Along the way in singles she defeated the No 1 seed. She also won the doubles title with her partner Morgan Barnhill. These two huge victories improved Brooke’s Texas ranking from #16 all the way to #5.
Joey Good also had excellent success last month. After Super Champing up in the 16’s in his final month before aging up into 18's Champs, it took only two tournaments to qualify back into Super champs in the 18’s Division. Congratulations to Joey who along the way defeated the Number 1, 3, 5 and 6 seeds.
Clark Shannon took 3rd place in the Little Mo tournament for Texas in February in the 8 & under division. This qualifies him for Little Mo regionals in May for a chance to play in the Little Mo nationals. Good luck Clark!!
