Originally from Abilene, Dusty fell in love with the game of tennis at the age of 12. He began playing competitively on his school team and in USTA tournaments. Dusty enjoyed a successful high school career and earned a final state ranking of #3 in Texas. Dusty received numerous scholarship offers to play Division I and II tennis, but chose to play Division III tennis at Hardin-Simmons University in order to pursue a degree in Biblical Studies. While at HSU, Dusty was voted NCAA Freshman of the Year. He achieved All-American status and was the American Southwest Conference Champion and player of the year for three straight years.
After graduating, Dusty spent 6 years in youth ministry. It wasn’t long before he found his way back to the court when he was offered the Head Tennis Professional position at Rose Park Tennis Center in Abilene. Dusty returned to HSU at the age of 28 to play his last semester of eligibility. He went on to win a fourth conference championship, and was voted the conference player of the year, making him the first ever four-time award winner.
Dusty is USPTA certified and is incredibly excited about the opportunity to be a part of the Lakes teaching staff where he can combine his passion for impacting people along with his passion for the game.
