Sherry brings to Lakes a true passion for teaching children to swim. Sherry grew up in Arlington/Fort Worth area and swam for eight years on the Panther Boys Club in Fort Worth and Burford Swim Team in Arlington under the coaching of the legendary Don Easterling.
Sherry has coached for ATAC Swim Team for the past 10 years, leading the Age Group program for the past 6 years. As Head Age Group Coach, Sherry oversees all of the 12 and under swimmers, tracking their development and progress throughout the season.
From 1989 until 1998 Sherry owned an operated Sherry's Swim School out of Mansfield and taught over 1800 students ages 2 years to 65. Sherry's teaching philosophy is to teach students to have respect for the water and at the same time love it. Swimming is a life skill that everyone of all ages should be able to do.
Sherry traveled for two years (1986-1987) as a supervisor for Barney's Big Surprise Stage Production. Sherry worked with the child actors teaching swimming as part of the children's P.E. requirement as they traveled to over 70 cities. Her son, Trent, was one of the child actors.
Currently, along with her duties at ATAC, Sherry works as an assistant Coach for Greenhill School teaching strokes and games to 1st - 3rd grade students and coaches 7th-8th grade middle school swim team. Sherry has coached several summer league Swim Teams (DASA) over the last 8 years.
She is married to Mike. They have three former swimmers: Courtney, Casey, and Trent. Sherry enjoys camping, boating, fishing, and reading in her spare time. She especially enjoys spending time with grand-daughters, 2 year old Kylie Raye and newborn Mickala Mae.
